“A generous man will prosper; he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed.” — Proverbs 11:25 (NIV)
What do we do now that our hearts are healthy, guarded, and filled to the brim with supernatural joy? We give it away! You and I were never meant to be stagnant ponds where God's blessings just sit. We are meant to be rivers! If you want to keep the joy of the Lord fresh in your heart, you have to let it flow out of you and into the lives of the people around you. The devil loves to keep us completely focused on ourselves. He wants you thinking about your problems, your hurts, and your bad days. Why? Because a self-absorbed Christian is a miserable Christian. But the moment you take your eyes off yourself and ask God, "How can I bless someone else today?" you completely defeat the enemy's plans. Being a blessing doesn't have to be complicated or expensive. It can be a genuine compliment to a coworker, paying for the person's coffee behind you in line, or sending an encouraging text message. When you make it your business to refresh others, God makes it His business to refresh you. As you go into this weekend, don't just ask God to bless you—ask Him to make you a blessing. Let the joy in your heart overflow so much that people can't help but notice there is something different about you!
Decree:
Today, I am a distribution center for God's love and joy. I will not live focused only on myself. I choose to be a blessing, to refresh others, and to let the light of Jesus shine brightly through my life! Amen.
