The People You Keep Are Shaping Your Future
"Become wise by walking with the wise; hang out with fools and watch your life fall to pieces.” - Proverbs 13:20 MSG
Today’s verse is a cut-and-dry reality check on the power of influence. Relationships are like elevators: they either take you up or bring you down. Who you choose to spend your time with directly shapes the person you become.
God never intended for you to walk through life alone, but He wants you to be highly selective about your inner circle. Walking with the wise does not mean finding perfect people. It means surrounding yourself with individuals who love and pursue God, truth, and who encourage you to grow. These are the friends who sharpen your character, correct you in love, and pull you closer to your purpose. Iron sharpens iron.
Now, on the flip side, hanging out with "fools"—those who mock what is right and live carelessly without spiritual discipline—gradually erodes your integrity. Separating yourself from toxic influences is not about being judgmental; it is about protecting your destiny.
Today, I challenge you to take a close look at your inner circle. Are they building your faith, or are they causing your life to slowly drift away?
Decree:
Father, I choose to walk in wisdom today. Surround me with people who strengthen my faith, encourage my growth, and draw me closer to You. Give me the courage to let go of unhealthy influences and the discernment to choose relationships that honor You.
I declare that my life will reflect Your truth, wisdom, and purpose. In Jesus' name, amen.
