Gratitude Makes Room For Wholeness

11 Jesus was traveling to Jerusalem. He went from Galilee to Samaria. 12 He came into a small town, and ten men met him there. They did not come close to him, because they all had leprosy. 13 But the men shouted, “Jesus! Master! Please help us!” 14 When Jesus saw the men, he said, “Go and show yourselves to the priests.” While the ten men were going to the priests, they were healed. 15 When one of them saw that he was healed, he went back to Jesus. He praised God loudly. 16 He bowed down at Jesus’ feet and thanked him. (He was a Samaritan. 17 Jesus said, “Ten men were healed; where are the other nine? 18 This man is not even one of our people. Is he the only one who came back to give praise to God?” 19 Then Jesus said to the man, “Stand up! You can go. You were healed because you believed.” -Luke 17:11-19 ERV

All ten received healing. But only one turned around. The one who returned recognized the source of his healing. Gratitude causes us to pause and remember:

“God has been good to me.” Sometimes we become so focused on what we are still waiting for that we forget what God has already done. Gratitude does not deny that you still have needs.

It simply refuses to ignore God’s goodness while you wait. The grateful man turned back.

Today, maybe God is asking you to turn back and remember. Remember what He brought you through. Remember the prayers He answered. Remember the doors He opened.

Remember the strength He gave you when you thought you would not make it.

Gratitude strengthens faith because what you remember about God’s faithfulness gives you courage to trust Him again.

Faith Goal:
Write down 10 things you are grateful for. “What has God already brought me through that I once thought I would never survive?”

Decree:
Father, forgive me for the times I have focused more on what is missing than on what You have already done.
Today, I turn back. I remember.
Thank You for protecting me, carrying me, strengthening me, and bringing me through seasons that I thought would break me. Thank You, for giving me a heart of gratitude. I choose thankfulness as a weapon against fear, discouragement, and hopelessness. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

I will remember the goodness of God. My past victories are reminders that God is still faithful. Gratitude is strengthening my faith and bringing peace to my soul.
