Let Go and Trust God with What’s Ahead

“Some of the Pharisees asked Jesus, “When will God’s kingdom come?” Jesus answered, “God’s kingdom is coming, but not in a way that you can see it. People will not say, ‘Look, God’s kingdom is here!’ or ‘There it is!’ No, God’s kingdom is here with you.” -Luke 17:20-21 ERV

Jesus teaches about the Kingdom of God being in your midst.

And later, in Luke 17, He teaches His followers to remain spiritually awake and ready.

Faith is not only about believing God for something in the future.

Faith is also learning to recognize that God is present right now.

Sometimes we spend so much time waiting for God to move that we miss the ways He is already moving.

We say:

“God, where are You?”

And sometimes the answer is:

“I am right here.”

Faith learns to become present.

It trusts God in today’s uncertainty.

It does not have to control tomorrow.

It does not have to understand every detail.

It simply learns to surrender.

Jesus warns us not to become so attached to the things of this world that we lose sight of what matters eternally.

Sometimes faith requires us to let go of:

• The need to control.

• The need to know everything.

• The need for immediate answers.

• The fear of what might happen.

• The past version of ourselves.

• Things God is asking us to release.

You cannot always carry your old life into your new season.

Sometimes faith says:

“God, I release what I cannot control, and I trust You with what comes next.”

Faith Goal
Make two lists.

What I Need to Release:
Write down the fears, people, situations, expectations, and worries you cannot control.

What I Choose to Trust God With:
Place each item in God’s hands through prayer.

Decree:
Father, today I surrender my future to You. I release the things I have been trying to control. I release the need to know exactly how everything will work out. Help me to trust You one day at a time. When I am tempted to worry, remind me that You are already present in my tomorrow. When fear tries to take control, remind me that my life is in Your hands. Build a faith inside of me that is stronger than my circumstances.
Build peace inside of me that does not depend on everything going perfectly.
Build trust inside of me that remains even when I cannot see the way.
I surrender my past, my present, and my future to You.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

I release control and choose trust. God is already present in the places I have not yet reached. My future is not in the hands of fear. My life is in the hands of God.
