Our Word Matters
"Do not let your mouth lead you into sin. And do not protest to the temple messenger, 'My vow was a mistake.' Why should God be angry at what you say and destroy the work of your hands?" — Ecclesiastes 5:6
It is easy to make excuses when we miss the mark. This scripture paints a picture of someone who makes a quick promise and then tries to explain it away, saying it was a mistake or that they did not really mean it. But God wants us to understand that our words matter. He hears what we say, and He desires for us to be people of integrity who follow through on our commitments.
Our words carry great power. They can build up or tear down, bring life or create unnecessary problems. When we treat our promises lightly, we weaken our character. God takes our words seriously because they reflect what is truly in our hearts. Instead of making excuses for careless speech, we can ask God to help us stop and think before we speak, speak with wisdom, and honor our words with our actions.
Decree:
My words are be guided by wisdom and integrity. I will think before I speak, honor my commitments, and refuse to make excuses for careless words. My words and actions will align, reflecting His truth, faithfulness, and love. In Jesus' name, amen.
