You are as Good as Your Word
"It is better not to make a vow than to make one and not fulfill it." — Ecclesiastes 5:5 NIV
Today, we shift our focus from the number of words we speak to the integrity of the promises we make.
In the Bible, a vow was a heartfelt promise made to God. Ecclesiastes reminds us that God takes our words seriously. Promises made emotionally, in haste, or out of desperation can become a burden when we fail to follow through.
True honesty with God is shown by living with integrity. Integrity is the quality of being honest and adhering to strong moral principles. It means your actions, beliefs, and values are consistently aligned, even when no one is watching. God is far more pleased with a sincere, faithful life than with big words, loud noise, and empty commitments. When you say you will do something, keep your word. If you are unsure whether you can follow through, it is wiser to wait than to make a promise you may not keep. God honors faithfulness, and a life of quiet obedience speaks louder than grand declarations.
Decree:
My words and promises honor God.
I walk in integrity, I keep my word, and I am faithful in both small and big things. My actions will align with my words. In Jesus' name, amen.
