Remove The Offense, Release The Forgiveness

“So be careful! If your brother or sister in God’s family does something wrong, warn them. If they are sorry for what they did, forgive them. Even if they do something wrong to you seven times in one day, but they say they are sorry each time, you should forgive them.” -Luke 17:3-4 ERV

Jesus begins this chapter by addressing something that can quietly destroy our faith: offense.

When we are hurt, rejected, disappointed, ignored, or betrayed, the pain can settle into our soul. Our mind keeps replaying what happened. Our emotions become guarded. Our will becomes resistant to trusting again.

But forgiveness is not saying that what happened was acceptable.

Forgiveness is saying:
“I refuse to allow what happened to me to continue controlling me.”
Faith has difficulty growing in a heart that is constantly feeding on bitterness, resentment, and offense.

Today, ask yourself:

What am I still carrying that God never asked me to carry?

Release the offense. Give the pain to God. Forgiveness may be a process, and sometimes you may need to make the decision to forgive repeatedly as healing takes place.

Faith Goal
Today, identify one hurt, disappointment, or offense that you are ready to surrender to God.
Write:
“Lord, I release ________. I choose freedom over bitterness.”

Decree:
Father, You know every hurt I have experienced. You know the things I talk about and the things I keep hidden deep inside. Today, I bring every offense, disappointment, betrayal, and wound to You. I choose to forgive. I release people from the debt I feel they owe me. I release the need to get even, to be understood, or to receive an apology before I can heal.

Thank You, for healing my soul and cleansing my heart. Thank You, for remove bitterness and replacing it with Your peace. I refuse to allow my past pain to control my future faith.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

I release every offense that has been living in my soul. I will not allow bitterness to block my faith. God is healing my heart, renewing my mind, and restoring my peace.
