Your Identity Is Secure in Christ

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” -2 Corinthians 5:17 ESV

Rejection doesn't only hurt our feelings.

Sometimes it changes the story we tell ourselves about who we are.

We may begin carrying labels such as:

Unwanted.
Not enough. Unlovable.
Forgotten. Too much.
Not chosen.

But Jesus does not define you by the labels people placed on you.

In Christ, you have been given a new identity.

Your past is not your identity.

Someone's opinion is not your identity.

Someone else's inability to love you properly is not your identity.

Your identity is found in Christ.

You are forgiven.

You are accepted.

You are God's child.
You are not who rejection said you were.

You are becoming who God says you are.

Decree:
Father, Thank You, for replacing the false labels that I have carried with the truth of who You say I am.
Help me see myself through the finished work of Christ rather than through the wounds of my past. Amen.

Journal Prompt:
What false labels have I carried, and what does God say instead?

Write three identity statements in your journal:
I am forgiven.
I am accepted.
I belong to God.
